Baton Rouge Louisiana Helicopter Flight School Students Receive Solo Wings

Louisiana helicopter pilot program continues to grow as college’s students receive solo wings and new Veterans enter program

Louisiana Helicopter Pilot Flight SchooThe Louisiana helicopter pilot program at Baton Rouge Community College continues to grow as the program’s first semester students received their solo wings and new helicopter flight students entering the program were recognized at the Baton Rouge Community College – Guidance Aviation Student BBQ on February 13, 2014.

solo wings helicopter school louisianaBaton Rouge Metropolitan (KBTR) representatives present included Mr. Anthony Marino, Airport Director of Aviation, and Mr. Ralph Hennessey, Asst. Dir. of Aviation. Also in attendance were representatives and aircraft from the Baton Rouge Police Department (R44) and the Louisiana State Police (Bell 430).

Keynote Speaker at the BBQ was Guidance’s Director of Veteran Affairs, Col. Joey Strickland, US Army, (Ret.), commenting on the strength of the Veteran friendly program and its commitment to training, employing, and reintegrating our U.S. Military Veterans.

The Baton Rouge Community College Aviation Technology Program offers an Associate of Applied Science, (AAS), Aviation Technology degree, Helicopters. Graduates of the program acquire the knowledge and skills as well as FAA certificates and ratings (CFI-I) to become professional helicopter pilots.
