Following a four year drought of job opportunities, the airlines are set for a major upswing in pilot hiring. Boeing has forecasted the need for more than 460,000 commercial pilots by 2029. Not only are aircraft manufacturers seeing this need, so are the companies that provide career services for aviators.
Getting back to Newton’s Third Law again, some say the last four years of depressed pilot hiring will be replaced with 10 years of a pilot hiring bonanza, quite possibly the largest boom in the industry’s history.
Reasons for the boom include:
- A large pool of current U.S. pilots who are getting ready to retire
- Increased travel to and within Asia
- An improving U.S. economy
- Of course, don’t forget all that is happening from an aviation standpoint within both India and China
If you are interested in becoming a pilot, there is no better time than right now. Guidance Aviation provides professional pilot training in both airplanes and helicopters. If you are a veteran, ask one of our in-house veterans about our helicopter flight training program using your Post 9/11 GI Bill benefits.
