Air Methods, with the largest EMS helicopter fleet in the United States, has acquired Blue Hawaiian Helicopters for an unknown sum. It is reported that Blue Hawaiian Helicopters operates on five islands in Hawaii and maintains a fleet of 24 Eurocopters (EC 130’s and EC350’s).
David and Patti Chevalier founded Blue Hawaiian in 1985. Today, Blue Hawaiian is the largest helicopter tour company in Hawaii and reportedly posted $47 million in revenues last year.
David Chevalier collaborated with Eurocopter to develop the EC130 EcoStar and now, Blue Hawaiian is transitioning to the latest version of the EcoStar, the EC130T2. Blue Hawaiian has 10 EC130T2’s on order at an approximate cost of $3 million per aircraft.
