Guidance Aviation Premier Sponsor of the 10th Annual Arizona Aviation Day
The 10th Annual Arizona Aviation Day is taking place at the State Capitol on Thursday, February 26, 2015, 11:00am – 1:00pm. As a premier sponsor of the State’s annual event, Guidance Aviation will be joined by the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA.org), Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Mesa – Falcon Field Airport, and the City of Buckeye, AZ.
Guidance Aviation had a strong presence at last year’s event. As a leading employer in Prescott, Arizona and the United States Small Business Administration’s Business Person of The Year, 2013, Washington, D.C., Guidance Aviation CEO John Stonecipher spoke with State Representatives Karen Fann (R) and Andy Tobin (R) about the economic impact of aviation and education on Arizona. This year, a Guidance Aviation helicopter and Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office search and rescue helicopter will be flying down for the event.
This past year (Feb 2014 – Feb 2015), 60 jobs were created at Guidance Aviation as the primary helicopter flight training institution continues to grow. Seventeen (17) of those hired were helicopter flight instructors (CFI-I).
Guidance Aviation’s economic impact on the State is joined by the Prescott Municipal Airport. In 2014, The Arizona Department of Transportation named the Prescott Municipal Airport/Ernest A. Love Field (KPRC) as the Airport of the Year….the Prescott Municipal Airport logged more than 250,000 takeoffs and landings, making it the third busiest airport in the state and the 37th busiest in the country…..The airport supports an estimated 700 jobs and generates $69 million for the local economy each year. Much of the airport’s activity is generated by flight training”[AZ.GOV]

The annual event is organized by the Arizona Airports Association (AzAA). “AzAA was formed in 1979 to bring together the representatives of public and private airports and others interested in the general benefit of aviation to provide information, expertise and support to all those in the State’s aviation industry. Further, the Association works to foster public recognition of airports and the airport executive profession, and to assist in the future development of air transportation in Arizona.
Membership is open to Airport Managers, Sponsors, and other aviation-related organizations including public and private corporations who are engaged in activities relating to the use and promotion of airports or aviation. Student membership is offered to full-time students who are engaged in the study of airport development, administration, management, and operation or in any related field of aviation, and who has been sponsored for membership by a current member in any classification.
AzAA offers assistance and support to its members through educational seminars, public outreach events and regular meetings. Members also enjoy a forum in which to share information. Throughout its history, AzAA has been successful in educating and representing the aviation needs of its members.” [AzAA]
